Mrs. Wheeler's Weekly Update- June 18, 2022

Posted On Monday June 20, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School:

As we enter our final stretch of time together, a few updates to share:

St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church welcomed both our Grade Seven and Grade Eight students last week who made the Sacrament of Confirmation. How wonderful it was to be able to gather together in Church for this sacramental moment. The Church has sent home letters with current Grade 1 and Grade 6 families concerning next year’s Sacramental preparation. I have also attached them electronically for your convenience, as Grade 2 and Grade 7 are sacramental years.

With a hopeful regular 2022/2023 academic year, we will be welcoming volunteers back into our school who have a current Criminal Reference Check with the Vulnerable Sector designation. It can take a significant period of time to get the check processed depending on backlogs. Should you wish to volunteer in some capacity next year, please reach out to either of our Secretaries, Ms. Wnuk or Mrs. Visco. They will be pleased to provide you with a request on Seton letterhead which defrays some of the cost.

With the support of our Seton Catholic School Council, we are looking to conduct a fundraiser in the upcoming school year. We are planning on Laura Secord chocolate, which is both peanut and nut free. We will be launching the campaign in September, but wanted to give you a bit of a heads-up. If you are in a position to make a donation of a prize or incentive, we would be most grateful. So whether it might be a gift card or Raptors tickets ( living in hope!), I wanted to plant the seed at this time, as it can take time to round items up. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like details about how you can be of assistance to Council.

Some save the dates for you: our Curriculum and Open House Night will be an in-person event on Wednesday September 21st. Our Catholic School Council Elections and First Meeting will be a virtual format, occurring Monday September 26th at 6:30 pm. Please save these dates, we would love to welcome both returning and new families!

Lastly, best wishes for a wonderful celebration of our Seton fathers tomorrow – Happy Father’s Day – thank you for all that you do to raise strong and empathetic children. God bless you in your most important work.
